RB and parkman are right on. More is on on par with
Sawadee
in terms of price and Thai food quality. I had an excellent Glazed Tamarind Duck that was crispy yet tender. The Pad Thai was also good (not great). My dinner partner rated her sushi as being not-so-good-as-
Honshu
's, but that's okay. We ate inside this time, but are looking forward to trying the garden soon.
Apparently the owner of Sawadee is a partner here, hence the similarities.

I am very excited to try this place! It seems like they've done business in JC before, they did their construction work and opened for business very quickly.
I only wish all new JC business owners could do the same, instead, it seems they run thru all their capital paying rent for a business they can not open because of all the red tape, only to run out of money and close within the year of opening their business.
Best of luck to More! I love the garden in that location!

My fiancee and I went to More last Saturday night for dinner. I agree with parkman's assessment, it was really a great experience and we came away from it so excited that we have this new option.
They really did a nice job with the back patio area. It's very spacious and tastefully done. The food was all very good. I got some dumplings and then some sushi rolls, while my fiancee got vegetarian duck in this pineapple ginger sauce that was excellent. We skipped on dessert and brought our own wine so we didn't try any of their (non-alcoholic) drinks but they all sounded tasty. The service was friendly and prompt and didn't seem amateurish at all.
Overall we had a very good experience and are excited about going back. I'm surprised they were able to pull it off so well on their opening night.

We have a winner!
Ventured out to “More” (281 Grove) on their opening night with the question of why we need another “fusion” restaurant. I’m pleased to report that it was one of the best total experiences I’ve had since Ox.
The renovation of the space was very pleasing, the staff was welcoming, and the food was remarkable. We ate in the garden area which accommodates about 30 seats…nicely lit, quiet, and comfortable although it was a little cool tonight.
We ordered the calamari fritters and chicken satay for appetizers…both were beautifully presented and very tasty. For entrées, we had two of their special sushi rolls (caterpillar and angel), both had wonderful flavor combinations we’ve never had before. Two of us had the barbeque steak, which again was nicely presented and cooked perfectly. And I had the roasted duck… great combinations of flavors, the duck very tender and not fatty.
Desserts were fried banana with ice cream and a warm flourless chocolate cake…there goes the diet but worth the calories.
As a bonus, it’s a BYOB although they do have some very interesting non-alcoholic drinks.
For an opening night, or for that matter any night, this is a welcome addition to our growing selection of excellent restaurants.

I have a question. Why do you think it's been so hard for someone to take over the comfort bistro space? That is a GREAT space and garden. Man, what a shame.
i have heard that that particular space is prone to flooding.

I'm assuming "More" is catering for people who are not satisfied with "Basic" or "Simple".

More
281 Grove Street
Jersey City, NJ 07302
201-309-0571 / 0572
A new restaurant called "More" opened up today in the space on Grove Street formerly occupied by Rachel. I grabbed a menu when I walked past. It's an Asian-fusion place: "Thai, Japanese and more..." From a quick glance of the menu it looks like the prices are fair and comparable to Sawadee or that other fusion place on Grove.

I guess with a name like More they can't be stingy with the portions... or maybe they can? So they can leave you saying "More?"
I've got nothing.

There has been some construction going on in the old Rachel space on Grove St for the past 2 weeks. Today I noticed a small sign that announces the arrival of More restaurant.
Any insiders know what type of food they will be serving there?
