Thanks for that!   ;D   We never could figure out what it was, but we found it rather fascinating.    :D

The second pic is a parade float. That's what it is.

It is a hibiscus (I think this kind is a "Rose Mallow").  Hopefully a cold hardy variety and it will appear again next year.   :)

Is the other seashell mermaid thing parked at Liberty State Park?   A few years ago something popped up by the marina that looked like a bunch of those figure heads (I know they have some name) that went on old ships all stacked together....I had some pics from the street, but farther away.  Glad to see it still standing or whatever its doing.  ???

I don't know what kind of flowers these are but when they're blooming in abundance and the sun is out, this is a good spot for a pic.

OK.  It looks like a boat or a castle, has a mermaid in a scallop shell on top, large spoked wagon wheels and it's been parked in the same spot forever.  What is this thing?

lol you went to Irma's *thumbs up* Great idea to hike through the hood (born and raised in Greenville). Neptune Bakery is definitely the spot to get those tasty chicken empanadas, I could inhale them all day.  :o

The map:
http://gpsvisualizer.com/display/1249850285-14597-75.75.149.50.html

The stats:
8.7 miles
4:16 total time
3:42 moving time
34 mins 07 sec stopped time
2.35 MPH  moving time
2.02 MPH overall

We went out via LSP aand returned via wards A/F.  MCA's car was parked on Bright St. so the trail doesn't end back at the park but I walked that way when I went home if it matters to anyone..

According to Intellicast, it's supposed to be decent weather.  Which will be nice...give my shoes time to dry out from APW.

Didn't anyone tell you?  First time hikers don't get to wear shoes.  You also have to carry everyone's stuff.  I hear elgoodo is bringing an accordian.  MCA starts whining about halfway through and wants to be carried piggyback.  You have a strong back, right?

For the nosy, my updated walk map since I got a GPS:

I gots me one of those new fangled GPS devices so we can show everyone exactly where we end up getting stabbed.

Here's where I went today:

http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/display/1249170317-08065-75.75.149.50.html

Active log 001 - seems like you spent some time at White Castle.
Active logs 6 thru 20 - you wandered around aimlessly in the area of 1st and Erie Streets bumping into buildings and telephone poles before you found your way out of the quadrant.

The train ferry is only about a block past Bayview Park although I had no idea the Port Authority bought it in Nov. or I would've tried to check it out sooner.

In order to get into BL, an interesting shortcut would be past the building remnants on Aetna St., around Mill Creek (whose source is the JC combined sewage outfall) and under the Tpke.
