Spoke with the guy in charge of the same-named market next door. It's correct, they're moving

Guess I can't imbed. Here's what Cory Booker had to say about leaving the rights of the minority to be voted upon by the majority:

Now that makes me happy. Given the weather lately, it'll probably be 70 in a couple of weeks, so perfect ice cream weather!

i wouldn't mind it, but i think there are better places to spend the money at currently. chalk it up on the to do list.

I will definitely try a korean bbq crepe

you might want to advertise these kind of events more than 2 hours in advance.

Groceries, Bakeries & Delis / Re: Prime Food Market
« on: 06-23-2011, 04:31pm »
Yea I've checked them out. They seem like nice, polite folks who run a clean place

Pros: Open 24 hours. Thank fkn god. Nothing is more annoying as a late-night person getting in after hours and not having any options. The more the better. Decent selection of indian groceries/spices/etc that is non-standard at shoprite and a&p (translation: they don't have 'em, this place does). Competitive prices on things like bulk spices and other items. Hot and cold food counter for quick meals.

Cons: Small grocery store doesn't have a huge selection. No red meats. Overpriced compared to shoprite on staples like milk and crackers.

for something not the embankment

shockingly i posted this over on list and it got removed with no explanation.

Kearny is yearning for a Lightrail extension from what I've heard.

This line struck me as odd, seeing how expanding the light rail - which they plan on doing, btw - would basically benefit all of the effected towns. In fact, one area that would benefit greatly from just one more stop would be the Hudson Mall, which would certainly enjoy increased traffic from Kearny as well as those coming from the other end.

Dining / Disgusting order of shrimp at Big Easy restaurant
« on: 04-03-2011, 01:19pm »
So I posted this on list, but for those of you that don't visit that place anymore, don't bother ordering from Big Easy seafood place up on Communipaw unless you like to eat shrimp shit.

Long story short, disgusting, aesthetically unpleasing, and given that its a mix of dirt and decaying vegetable and animal, its certainly not healthy or tasty.

"...they were cleaning out the tools."

 ???  Say wha?

They were busy kicking MCA out of the joint.

silliness aside, the owner of jclist is cybersquatting the website. some guy went on and pissed at him for it. his side of the story is that he told the owner of 2A a long while ago that he should register the site and that if he didn't he would. 2A owner had no interest, so he reg's the site. he claims he also would have (will?) sold/sell the site to the owner for the $15 he paid to register it.

seems like a non-story to me assuming he ain't bullshitting.

Funny as fu**, but uh... why not at least post a vid with an english translation?

thank fkn god. the gutters are looking disgusting everywhere. should've started today imo

Restaurants & Bars / Re: Duckys and Dumplings
« on: 02-17-2011, 12:03am »
Tried this place last night. I can safely say I am never ordering from them again. This meal was worse than Taco Bell.

Pork dumplings: adequate, nothing special, a bit too salty.
Shrimp dumplings: completely f'n disgusting. No shrimp flavor, all salt.
Vegetable fried rice: completely bland, except for, again... a salt taste. The "vegetables" were a few meager pieces of cabbage and miniscule amounts of scallions.

The shrimp dumplings I threw out after one bite, they were completely inedible. The fried rice stayed in the fridge to be used later for an adequate stir fry with actual taste.

To be clear, I don't dislike salt. I use it in almost every meal, and I cook with soy/teryaki/hoisin/oyster sauce on a regular basis.

passed by there on my way to work. good luck to all jc businesses, especially in that part of town.

Benches, posters, pavilions and retail shops will soon beautify the bleak, cramped and pale PATH stations that commuters say make for some of the worst train rides in the region's transit system.

How about some friggin' trash cans?!

Well, tomorrow at the last meeting of this committee they've put together, we get to meet the CEO of the port authority. I'm really looking forward to telling the head of a billion dollar company that "his opinion is wrong" and showing him pictures of the DC, NYC, San Fran, Boston and Atlanta subway systems as proof.

Restaurants & Bars / Re: BBQ at Legal Beans!

Same thing I said over on list. I wasn't terribly impressed with my food. Picking whole peppercorns out of my pulled pork isn't my idea of a good time. Food was kind of dry and didn't have sauces on the side. Good cornbread, tho.

Long time customer there. They have pretty decent pizza and very, very good subs/hoagies. Meatball and Sausage Parm are top notch and inexpensive to boot.

Asked at a couple liquor stores, none had. Anyone know where I can find a new flask at?
