Not JC Related / Using Coupons!
« on: 04-21-2011, 09:57am »
So, I started using coupons in January after watching the TLC show: Extreme Couponing http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/tv/extreme-couponing

I figured if these extreme savers could do it so could I. I started out small, just clipping only coupons for stuff we actually used. I signed up for store 'loyalty' cards. I began. The first week I went to the store with my coupons I was kind of embarrassed, I had never done this before and what would people think. That first shopping trip I saved over $35 using the store loyalty card and my coupons, I was hooked. So far since January I've saved $325 using coupons.

Here's a few of the sites I go to:

http://www.frugalcouponliving.com/

http://www.couponmom.com/

I promised the husband that I'd never be one of those 'stock piling' people that you see on Extreme Couponing, but I do like saving $$!

Not JC Related / New Year's traditions
« on: 01-01-2010, 11:16am »
What are your 'New Year's' family traditions?

Growing up my Mom always served black-eyes peas at the first dinner to ensure a year of 'good luck'! My family, however, absolutely hates black-eyed peas and they refuse to eat even a spoonful. *Clearly* we need a new tradition!

Please share any traditions your family does! Thanks!

Services Available / Ultimate Car Detailing
« on: 08-12-2009, 02:03pm »
Huge rave for James Vorrius, owner of Ultimate Car Detailing, who worked his magic on our recently flooded/stinky vehicle. The interior looks and more importantly smells almost as good as the day we drove her off the dealer's lot...no small feat since she's a 10-year-old vehicle.

Quick turn around (kept her overnight) and very reasonably priced: $110
Plus, he answered all my questions (I had a lot) and didn't roll his eyes.

He also does: motorcycle detailing, vinyl pinstripes & decals, windshield chip repair, paintless dent repair, accessories installed, glass polishing, vin etching, truck & car interior dash kits, truck accessory customizing, and more.

Bayonne / Bayonne BBQ

Bayonne BBQ
523 JFK Blvd
Bayonne, NJ

Finally tried this place this weekend and they don't have brisket. Only chicken and ribs. The BBQ sauce wasn't home made. Their potato salad and slaw were passable but in the world's smallest containers. So, we each got a taste, barely.

This place is our 'new' favorite place for breakfast. We've eaten here every Saturday morning since we moved to Bayonne and their breakfasts are delicious and dare I say 'cheap'! They fix these scrumptious 'fajitas', my fave being the #5 (two jumbo scrambled eggs, jack cheese, and sausage wrapped in a tortilla) for a mere $4.25. We've also tried their pancakes and regular breakfast plates...all delicious. I can't wait to try their lunch wraps or dinner specials!

Texan rating: A+

Located on the northeast corner of JFK Blvd and 10th St.

*Kudos to missa for telling me about this place!

Movies & Television / The Bachelor
« on: 03-03-2009, 11:05pm »
The latest bachelor, Jason Mesnick, on The Bachelor is really a turd. Really. Plus he's a crybaby. Melissa, the gal he gave proposed to and gave the final rose, is way, way better off without him. Some day she will thank her lucky stars that she escaped a life of hell married to him.

I only wish that the TV Gods would introduce Melissa to Jack Bauer from "24"! Now there's a man who doesn't cry!  8)

General / And you think you're having a BAD day!
« on: 02-25-2009, 04:18pm »
Sent to me by a friend, not sure if they are truths....but they made me chuckle!

Things Got Ya Down?   Well Then, Consider These ..

In a hospital's Intensive Care Unit, patients always died in the same bed, on Sunday morning, at about 11:00 am, regardless of their medical condition. This puzzled the doctors and some even thought it had something to do with the super natural. No one could solve the mystery as to why the deaths occurred around 11:00 am Sunday, so a worldwide team of experts was assembled to  investigate the cause of the incidents. The next Sunday morning, a few minutes before 11:00 am all of the doctors and nurses nervously waited outside the ward to see for themselves what the terrible phenomenon was all about. Some were holding wooden crosses, prayer books, and other holy objects to ward off the evil spirits. Just when the clock struck 11:00, Kenneth Roberts, the part-time Sunday sweeper, entered the ward and unplugged the life support system so he could use the vacuum cleaner.

Still Having a Bad Day????

The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez Oil spill in Alaska was $80,000.00.  At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were being released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers.  A minute later, in full view, a killer whale ate them both.

Still think you are having a Bad  Day????

Betty came home to find Jerry in the kitchen shaking frantically, almost in a dancing frenzy,  with some kind of wire running from his waist towards  the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from  the deadly current, she whacked him with a handy  plank of wood, breaking his arm in two places.  Up to that moment, he had been happily listening to his iPod.

Are Ya OK Now? - No?

Two animal rights defenders were protesting the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in  Bonn, Germany. Suddenly, all two thousand pigs broke loose and escaped through a broken fence, stampeding madly.  The two helpless protesters were trampled to death.

What?!? STILL having a Bad Day????

Iraqi terrorist Khay Rahnajet didn't pay enough postage on a letter bomb. It came back with 'Return to Sender' stamped on it.  Forgetting it was the bomb, he opened it and was blown to bits.

Movies & Television / Real Housewives of Atlanta
« on: 10-08-2008, 11:04pm »
OMGosh! Mark my words people this will be the best housewives yet!

The playas:

Lisa Wu Hartwell, wife of NFL player Ed Hartwell. She is gorgeous and ADHD.
DeShawn Snow, wife of Cleveland Cavalier Eric Snow. She is pretty and overwhelmed.
Kim Zolciak, single Mom. She has amazing boobage and is a 'black woman trapped in a white woman's body'. <--her words
NeNe Leakes, wife of successful businessman. She gets what she wants AND will kick ass.
Sheree Whitfield, former wife of football Whitfield player. She is spoiled rotten, but in a rich-my-former-husband-is-a-football-player way.

First show recap: Sheree has fabulous birthday party and accidentally forgets to include NeNe. Which pisses NeNe off to no end. NeNe will spend the rest of the season plotting to kick Sheree's ass. This will be good.  >:D

This is some good fried chicken, if you like that southern fried flavor! They add just a hint of seasoning into their batter before frying the chicken just like my Grandma used to do! Plus, they must change their grease pretty often 'cause there wasn't that funky-we-fry-everything-in-this-grease taste to the chicken!

Their chicken brought happy tears to my eyes. The only thing that could have made it better was if they had fried okra available.

Medical / Vet recommendations!
« on: 06-28-2008, 10:10am »
We need a good/compassionate vet for our critter. Would prefer to give our business to one in JC if possible. The vet located closest to us just isn't passing muster. Odd hours, spotty compassion, and difficult to understand. Thanks in advance!
