Gala Event at Beacon to Raise Funds for Charter School and Honor Paul Silverman
March 6, 2014 - Jersey City, NJ - Learning Community Charter School (LCCS) will hold its 6th Annual Spring Gala on April 4, 2014 from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Beacon's Art Deco Great Room in Jersey City, NJ.  Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased in advance by emailing Brittin-bleakley@lccsnj.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door the night of the event.

At the event, Learning Community Charter School will award its longstanding supporter, Paul Silverman, a local real estate developer and philanthropist, the prestigious Championship Award.  "Learning Community Charter School (LCCS) is filled with great energy, enthusiasm, and creativity,” said Silverman. “LCCS is so important to our neighborhoods.  Residents stay and raise their families here in Jersey City because of schools like LCCS. We applaud the good work of Learning Community Charter School."

The LCCS Spring Gala is an arts event offering attendees a unique opportunity to enjoy lively jazz music, nibble on fine food and sample local wine and beer including selections provided from NJ Beer Co. as well as purchase original art from some of the area's finest artists at a fraction of gallery prices. In the past, more than 150 people have attended from the school and the arts, political and educational community. Once again, the event is open to families and friends of the school as well as the general public.

The Gala features a silent art auction with works donated by more than a dozen Jersey City artists, including Iris Rivo, an artist with new works created using stencils, spray paint, varnishes and hand-painted elements, oil painter Ozlem Baygun and naturalist photographer John Dunstan.

This year will showcase music from Language of Music of Jersey City, including Neville L’Green and his fine group of professional musician instructors. There will be several luxury raffle items including an iPad, Yankees tickets and a luxury Miami hotel getaway.

Gala sponsors include Champion Circle sponsor, Investor's Bank as well as Lakeland Bank, NJ Beer Co., Honey Bakery, Hollywood Florists, Skinner’s Loft, ShopRite Metro Plaza, Super Buy Rite Beer and Liquor, The Merchant and Cocoa Bakery.

LCCS is a free preK-8th grade public charter school in Jersey City that educates close to 600 students and must raise $100,000 a year, each year to meet school operating expenses.  The school is proud of the strong parent volunteer support that helps to raise over $100,000 a year. The Spring Gala is one of LCCS’s major fundraising events.
