Bergen-Lafayette / Another drive by reevaluation?
« on: 06-27-2017, 06:25pm »
Today I received a blue card from Appraisal Systems Inc. saying they have "made a second visit to your property and found no one home" so they randomly decided I have 3.5 bathrooms, baseboard heat and a finished basement.  They are only off by 2.5 bathrooms, the baseboard heat and one unfinished basement.  Gee, do they suppose anyone WORKS so they can pay their unabated taxes?  Annoyed phone message to their voicemail ensued.  This is the first time I've heard from these guys.  Apparently they have given the same big overestimates to a few of my neighbors and on the next block over as well.   Buggers. Be warned people, it's another drive by reevaluation in the making. >:(

Pets, Pets, Pets / Found dog
« on: 02-08-2015, 04:26pm »
Hello,
If anyone in the Storms Ave. area is looking for their dog, I found one without a collar, alone, shivering outside this afternoon.  It doesn't look familiar.  There were no people in sight so I have it in my house. Its very friendly and looks well cared for.  Please post here or call 201-388-1189 if you are looking for your dog.  Please leave a description. Thanks!

Crime & Safety / Office building - no water!
« on: 01-05-2010, 03:27pm »
Does anyone know how long an office building can leave its tenants without water (11 floors)?  Meaning NO water for sinks and toilets.  They are claiming a "broken pipe." Its getting a mite gamey in the hallways. :P   This started around 8:30 am and the place smells like a giant diaper pail ripened in the sun.

General / Read About a Good Kid
« on: 06-08-2009, 11:42am »
Maybe someone out there can help the young man in the story below.  Its nice to read about a kid trying to do something good instead of the other things we see all to often.   His family has been trying to raise the money to send him, but it seems his time is running out.  The deadline is Wednesday  :(

Funds being solicited for schoolboy's trip to Europe

Friday, June 05, 2009

Time is running out on a County Prep student's chance-of-a-lifetime trip to Europe, but his family is still hoping Jersey Journal readers will come through.

Brandon Cabell, 15, a freshman at the Jersey City school, was accepted for a People-to-People excursion to five European countries next month.

The deadline to pay for the $7,000 trip is Wednesday and through donations and fund-raisers, his family has come up with $3,600.

Brandon's family has placed canisters in a number of businesses in Jersey City and they're hoping that some fund-raisers can be held to raise the remaining $3,400.

For those of us who do live here, lets not forget to vote in the run-off for our city council person.  If you are not satisfied with Viola Richardson (or even if you are) get out and vote or don't whine about it later!!!  ::)
