What about FJB on Coles and Newark?

Things I would love to see in JC

Tapas place - Originally LITM was listing itself as a Tapas place as they were building. Not sure what happened, but I do remember seeing a sign for a new Tapas place as construction went on.

Ramen Noodle Place - Open to atleast 4am...

Deli - I mean a real German or Kosher Deli, not these Eyetalian sandwich shops...

Decent Comic book store or Game shop... Enough nerds and geeks in the area to keep this running now.

Less side by side strollers!

Less whining people that wish JC was more like Brooklyn.

They seem to have some money. I give them a long, painful year.

I dunno... the stroller brigades seem to love to have a cup of green stuff in their cup holders.

I would hazard a guess that more than a few of these unused sick and vacation days were spent working from home or working from the boardwalk down the shore.

Someone has to keep Healy from getting into fights with beach cops.

Huh, and when I saw that part of the tunnel exposed earlier last week I thought it was the beginning of a parking garage for the new building being started. Glad to see it was this instead, especially since I've been wondering how they're going to be able to dig into there without disrupting the path and the station.

Voter 217 at noon at PS9

That'd be swell, thanks.

What the subject line says... looking for recommendations for a housing inspector and heads up on who to avoid. TIA.

Has anyone heard any news or updates about whether or when the footbridge that leads to Liberty State park (where Jersey Avenue ends) will be repaired?

According the most recent article in the Jersey (dated Jan. 31): "The city expects to put the footbridge work out to bid by the end of March, and hopes to have it replaced entirely by Memorial Day, or “as soon as possible” after, according to McFadden."

That seems highly unlikely since that'll be after the election.  :P

I voted for Kevin last week, and was very happy that I did after another really fantastic meal at Thirty Acres on Saturday. Bring it home for JC!

I'm gonna go against the rest of the thread and say, my first reaction to the new set-up was "holy shit! this is hideous!". The last design was pretty bad, but man, this is worse.

I like the lay out and new info, but man, this'll keep me away for sure.

thank you!

We'll be back when you take reservations!
:palm: I'll be back again soon.

Indeed. We were there Saturday night and will probably be back sooner than our wallets would prefer.  ;D But oh man, that new Choucroute dish is real good.

I hope the folks at Grove Pointe and 50 Columbus enjoy their view while it lasts, these damn things are gonna be almost 20 stories taller than either of those buildings. They better accept dogs. ;)

Oooh... Term limits... I like the sound of that.

One problem with term limits, though, is that they can lead to nongovernmental actors ruling the show. The power will be asymmetrically divided between a newbie councilperson and a deep-pocketed developer who has been in the game for years and knows the ropes. Also, if the council seats are emptied at a faster rate, then the institutional knowledge and best practices tend to be lost.

Of course, this is in the abstract; none of it might apply to JC.

I agree with you in terms of the problems that it *might* cause on the council, but in terms of the position of the Mayor, term limits are a great idea.

I just called the DR on Newark to see if they had any more shots since I haven't gotten mine yet, and the pharmacist said that they're all out.

Blame Jenny Babykiller McCarthy.

Fixed it.

Huge pertussis (whooping cough) outbreak right now, too. If you see your doctor, check if you need a DPT booster shot (though if she is good, she should counsel you on that without asking).

Yikes, I probably do need that DPT booster shot then, as I am 55+ and it's been many, many moons since I've had those childhood type shots. As a teacher I am noticing a large percentage of parents these days NOT wanting to get the immunization shots for their kids and am wondering if this is why whooping cough is making a come back or if this is a new improved strain of whooping cough?

Yep. That's exactly why it's making a comeback, MMR too.

The weekend before the place got papered up there were large signs in the windows saying things like "all groceries 70% off Cash only" And then once they closed up, there was a notice from the sheriff on the window, so I don't think it was a simple going out of business.

I saw this dog running down Morris street towards Van Vorst St. right where the new building the Madox is now, I chased after it but by the time I got to the corner it was gone. I believe I saw it make a left at that corner and run towards the marina.

Let me know if I can help.

I know of some folks getting married next summer and are having a band, it will cost them $20,000. That's not a typo.

For 20 grand I would want GG Allin in a shitstained wedding dress! :drama:

5 person band for 5 hours, that's pretty much the going rate in the NYC area. Darna, they went through an agency if you want I can try to find out who they used.

I heard this too, but we haven't been able to confirm it.

Miss Eliza, did you see this happen? The report I heard didn't have very much information, so any thing else you can add would be very helpful. If so, please PM me so we can confer.

Also, thanks to everyone for all your help.
