Do the students that they reference mean like highschool and under?

Also, "SciTech Scity" is stupid.

This will be the block that is compromised of just a private parking lot now? Better than that I guess.

I wonder how long the parking lot on the other side of 77 Hudson/70 Greene has left.

Looks like those jerks at Zipcar got rid of their Journal Square location.

So these guys are totally gone. I saw a construction crew last week demolish the brick pizza oven inside.

I just heard that 77 Hudson and their surrounding buildings are without power.

I like how ever in the artist's rendition they still can't make the PATH building look clean and not sad.

Sigh.  I like the space on Grove whilst I hate the Gastropub.  I hope the Merchant isn't just Gastropub-lite

Oh, you're too fancy for the delicious Key Fresh Direct rotisserie birds now?

Passable. Shrunken, oversalted but not without its charm. You remember Harvest Cart? Now there was a roast chicken. :yum:

Try the chickens at Two Aprons. Good stuff.

So... we've started packing in earnest and we went thru all those boxes really fast (thank you btw)! And damn it, we have lots more stuff. Anyone got more boxes? Even one or two, we'll take them. Seriously.

Those fresh direct ones are really great....

With the traffic backup when Newark Avenue is closed, someone must speak about fire emergencies especially in the Van Vorst Neighborhood. The Newark Avenue fire station is used for any emergencies in that area.  The fire station near the Prep is normally not manned.

I dunno, I walk by that station at several points during the day, (the one next to Prep on Grand that is) and there's people in there all time. Even had one of the firemen yell at a car that almost hit me crossing that crosswalk once. Nice guys.

Wow, well this thread is quite a trip down memory lane...

Anyway. We need your boxes! Give them to us! Please?

Seems the real reason Vegas works is because of the legalized sex-work not the gambling. And if we want to start legalizing sex work in LSP and the Meadowlands, to help out AC, I think that might be a better way to go about it.

In my head, I'm hearing this in the voice of alb.

I'm not necessarily against one part of the state helping out the other part of the state, that's how a civilization works after all, but it just seems a wee bit shortsighted to think casinos would produce the revenue to do it. Especially since they didn't do it there? And is the only thing that they're really saying made the AC casinos fail was just that they weren't close enough to NYC?

I have no problem with gambling, don't really understand it, but don't care about other adults doing it, but casinos just seem stupid everywhere they are. Seems the real reason Vegas works is because of the legalized sex-work not the gambling. And if we want to start legalizing sex work in LSP and the Meadowlands, to help out AC, I think that might be a better way to go about it.

“The proposal for a megacasino at the Jersey City site” and a slot parlor in the Meadowlands, Mr. Lesniak said, “could produce in excess of a billion dollars over 10 years to be reinvested in Atlantic City.”[/color]

Atlantic City, the city that was supposed to be "saved" by the arrival of casino gambling, needs a bailout from the rest of the state. Casinos are closing up shop and leaving the city behind, and someone else gets to pay to keep the city on life support.

OK, but what about GMO Salmon? And them "mingling" with non-GMO salmon.

And this at the very least has to be labeled. It's one thing not to label the plants, (though I think that's bullshit, the more we know what's in our food the better.) but to not label animals... that just seems completely wrong and just straight up lobbying over consumer's right to information.

Home Improvement / Re: Clean Out Service
« on: 08-14-2014, 09:25am »
Starting up this thread again!

We will be in need of a clean out service probably several times over the next few months. And since the last recommendation is 6 years old, I figured I'd ask again.

I do think that it's a mistake to group all "GMOs" into one group.  Not all GMOs are Monsanto, and it's ignorant to assume so.  See, e.g., the work being carried out by IRRI on developing golden rice to address vitamin deficiencies in impoverished countries.

Agreed. But there is a big difference between adding vitamin A to rice to prevent blindness and Round-Up Ready crops. It's one of those nuance issues...

This is the building thats ceiling collapsed in during Sandy? The one that had the PNC Bank on the first floor that were a bunch of idiots and kept all their files in the basement and lost those all during Sandy too?

Well, lets hope that they're putting in a lot of pumps.

So, I'm totally gonna be "that guy" but... really a biblical verse on a city flier? One that specifically references "the Lord" twice? Sigh... are my tax dollars being spent given job training with a side of Jesus?

The Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline are clearly visible from the roof deck, thanks to the building's C-shape design, which maximizes views of an adjacent marina and the Hudson River waterfront.

It's more like a view of the camper and trailer parking lot, but I guess that's technically part of the marina.

So it's just 5 of us then? In that case I think we should just get tickets separately, there's no way they're gonna give me a deal on a group of 5. Though I'm happy to still take a ride with you Booble.  ;D

Okay, maybe not. Lol. I will buy my own and post where we will be sitting.

Lol, I didn't see either of those till right now. But if we do have a big group going I'm happy to call the ticket office and see if we can get some sort of deal.

We'll (obviously) be going. Gonna buy tickets tomorrow morning if folks wanna sit together...
