George.
I don't got his number right now, tho.  I'll try to post his info later.

Thanks PhiGi, I was beginning to think I was on the rentals-only board.  ;)

Looking for an outdoor/indoor contractor
I'm looking to go from a wood deck in back to stone and would also like to get estimates for a better layout for our 2nd floor.  The 2nd floor work will be pretty simple with minimal electrical and mostly non-load bearing wall work and some flooring patchwork.  The outdoor work will be more extensive with some demo of the old deck.

Any recommendations?

I have a good carpenter who is very willing to take on small projects, but he's an unlicensed / cash-only kind of deal.  Send me a PM if you're interested.

A.  We need to have backyard access built in the form of a small deck and stairs, any thoughts on a good contractor?

I don't know how helpful this information is but... There is a house on the south side of  Jewett between JFK and Bergen that is having the exterior resided in wood and painted.  The work being done looks exemplary so far, except I can not for the life of me remember the name of the contractor.  My neighbor approached them about having his porch redone and they did not seem like they had an issue with doing smaller jobs.  If I get a chance, I will walk by them this weekend and write down their name.  But if there's anyone out there who knows what I am talking about could you post the name here?

Platinum Construction.

stopped by the house on Jewett one afternoon, owner of the company was doing work on site (a good sign in our book), he took us inside, showed some of the interior work they're doing as well. very nice work.

based out of west new york, the guy said most of their more recent projects have been in JC. very nice guy, easygoing, not pushy.

Hey all,

We've had such extraordinary luck on JCList with recommendations--I'd say most of our goodies came from there!  We're looking for a couple of things, so figured I'd try luck here.

A.  We need to have backyard access built in the form of a small deck and stairs, any thoughts on a good contractor?

B.  We need to side and paint our house.  We did post over on JCList, no replies, but I think we can do better over here. ;D
