I've seen a bunch of Antiques Road Show episodes that decried the refininshing of furnitures that would be worth much much more in original, if somewhat shabby condition.  The fine patina of old age or some such tommyrot.
Maybe it could just use some minor repairs/touch-ups?  Jeff Baker works on antique/restoration doors; maybe he could steer you to another tradesman if it's not his dealio. (201) 988-0524, good luck!

I have an old chest of drawers that was my grand parents, it's been through half a dozen moves and needs some TLC.  Does anyone know someone that can repair/refinish it in JC?  Bonus if they would pick it up.
