That's too funny.  Can you imagine getting DOH'd by an impersonator?  I think there's a career here, particularly in NYC where there's mass DOH hysteria as a result of the KFC rat thing.

Any restaurateur would know it's a phony if it happened in Jersey City.  Inspections are unheard of except if you call the Health Dept. a zillion times (which is what I imagine happened to C-Town.) The last I knew, there were only 2 inspectors for then entire city.
Well just because you aren't paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you.

Some people are wannabe policemen, some are wannabe firemen, some guys wanna be a railroad engineer and then there are the more unusual and highly specialized wannabes that we rarely hear about.

Fake inspector visits Hoboken eatery
Wednesday, May 23, 2007

HOBOKEN - Police are looking for a bogus health inspector who gave a restaurant a failing grade last Tuesday, police reports said.

Posing as a health inspector, a man told an employee at the Pita Grill, Third and Washington Street, that he needed to inspect the kitchen and the restroom.

After the phony inspection, the man told the employee that conditions were unacceptable, adding that he would mail then a copy of the report, police said.

The employee realized that the man was an impostor when a real city inspector showed up Friday, police said. Nothing appears to have been stolen, leading police to believe it may have been a prank.

Police are now looking for the suspect on charges of impersonating a public employee and have advised owners to request identification before allowing inspectors into their premises.

Anyone with information should call Hoboken Police Department at (201) 420-2106.
