I had all good intentions but by force of habit (and doing some :nerd: ing) got off the boat at my usual stop vs. Paulus Hook.  Plus Shahaggy said it was too cold. Stayed home with an Ommegang doppel, with spicy roasted pork, taters and greens from the Co-op - it really does drink as advertised.

I have a bud in Delaware who goes to the brewery allatime, they host events to watch thier TV show on site.

Thanks. I assumed it'd be pretty busy, especially given the new found attention from the tv show.

I was there for a bit.  It was fun, good selection of beers and I got to try a few that I never had before.  Way too packed for a Thursday night though, so I only stuck around for a few pints. Since dogfish head is so popular, they really need a larger venue for this sort of thing.

Dogfish Head Takes Over Jersey City @ Iron Monkey
« Reply #49 on: 12-09-2010, 12:33pm »
Tonight, Thursday December, 9th the highly acclaimed Dogfish Head Brewery  are bringing 14 of their spectacular beers to the taps of downtown Jersey City bar Iron Monkey!  The Iron Monkey is a tremendously impressive microbrew bar.  Located only a block away from the Exchange Place Lightrail Station this is the  distinguished Downtown Jersey City neighborhood beer bar!  There’s no way you can go wrong with $0.25 wings Tuesday-Friday and the ever-changing beer menu that includes various bottle and tap selections from around the world.

The Dogfish brews on tap for the event will include the new Bitches Brew stout which is a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Miles Davis jazz fusion album of the same name.  I tasted this beer in a 750ml bottle when it was first released and it is an extraordinarily vivacious ale.  Can’t wait to try it on tap.  I’m sure the flavors will be even more pronounced than they were from the bottle!

Other beers on tap will be Chateau Jiahu, World Wide Stout, Saison Du Buff,  Palo Santo Marron, Old School, Burton Baton, Midas Touch and all the rest of the Dogfish classics you know and love!   The goodness will be be flowing!

Another bonus, the event is offering fans the opportunity to take their shot at Randall the Enamel Animal. You may remember Randall from my Eataly article, but for the uninitiated, it is a hop infuser that runs fresh tap beer through a fresh hop loaded cone like filter. This beast gives your mouth an extra kick of clean freshness and tantalizes your taste buds. The creative people at Dogfish Head have been known to swap hops out for other herbs and spices, who knows what tonight will bring.

Woah!  Now that sounds fantastic!  If you’re in the Jersey City area tonight, you must stop by and hang with the Beer Sessions and the folks from Dogfish.  It’s gonna be a blast, and with three floors to party in, the Iron Monkey can accommodate us all!

The Iron Monkey Bar & Restaurant is hosting its 15th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner.  This downtown favorite, located at 99 Greene Street, will be opening its doors to the local community inviting all residents for a complimentary turkey dinner.

“The kitchen staff is happy to donate their time back to the people who keep our restaurant running,” says Iron Monkey’s Executive Chef, “we know the holidays can be a difficult time for some, but we’re here to serve.”

With generous turkey and food donations from local supermarkets, the kitchen will be serving a full course Thanksgiving meal from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 25th.

On Thanksgiving eve, NJ Beer Company will be hosting a Meet The Brewer Fundraiser at Iron Monkey (7pm – closing) to raise money for the Thanksgiving event the following day.  $1 of each NJ Beer Co. beer purchased will be matched and donated back to feeding hundreds of residents this year.  Everyone’s support, and thirst, is encouraged to help fundraise.

“We are excited to be teaming up with NJ Beer Company to celebrate our 15th consecutive year sharing Thanksgiving dinner with the local community,” says owner, Steve McIntyre, “we encourage all residents who may be under financial pressure, or alone for the holidays to join our family atmosphere, and enjoy a traditional home cooked meal.”

Please join us!!  Anyone is welcome.

I'm assuming you mean Irish last names? If so, I'm glad to hear that even if I'm not eligible, at least folks like Shaquille O'Neal, Will Smith, Jim Brown, Brad Daugherty and the entire families of Michael Jackson and Rudy Ray Moore can partake.

MCA I had a friend in college named John Donnellon. He always wondered why he never got invited to all the Asian parties. He was Korean.

Darna: could someone please splain to me why a person in a gang is called a gangbanger but a gangbang has nothing to do with gang activity?

shahaggy: can't believe I'm saying this but +1 jehu

[02:58 PM] MCA: it's not stalking, it's caring enough to find out things she won't tell you herself

[01:35 PM] shahaggy: fine but jehu's correct

TheFang: as much as it pains me to say, jehu might be right.

One time, I hired a monkey to take notes for me in class. I would just sit back with my mind completely blank while the monkey scribbled on little pieces of paper. At the end of the week, the teacher said, "Class, I want you to write a paper using your notes." So I wrote a paper that said, "Hello! My name is Bingo! I like to climb on things! Can I have a banana? Eek, eek!"
