Between people's signatures, the quote boxes (which read much better than the last iteration with the dark background, :palm:) and those invitations to 'like' on Facebook or post on twitter and do something involving this google+ business, I have some trouble finding the post itself, particularly if it is brief. TMI.  It is confusing to my eye.
Too much advertisement, not enough content.

Looks real good and thanks for the news feed..... NJO is way to confusing and too many steps to get local newsfeed. I alsways click on Wiredjc to see breaking JC and Hudson County news.

I totally agree Pinky! I come here to get my local news, if I haven't had a chance to look at the hard copy Jersey Journal that comes to my house everyday.

With that being said, the shoutbox is mad narrow it has a little horizontal scroll bar on it now and I have to fiddle with it to read the shouts.

I think the older version was "cleaner" and more intuitive, but I salute all of your efforts nevertheless. I just appreciate the work you guys put into this.

If you have any suggestions...

I’d like to suggest eliminating the Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ links to at the top of every post, but I’m probably just too square to understand the value of sharing my internet activity with the ADD set.

I'm gonna go against the rest of the thread and say, my first reaction to the new set-up was "holy shit! this is hideous!". The last design was pretty bad, but man, this is worse.

I like the lay out and new info, but man, this'll keep me away for sure.

All-

Over the past few days, a few major changes have been made to WJC, hopefully for the better.

The most visible change has been to a new version of our forum software, Simple Machines - to 2.0.4 from our old end-of-life'ed 1.3 version.  As part of that, we had to get rid of Tiny Portal, which has ceased development.  We are now using Simple Portal, which is what renders the different objects on the front page.  Some of these are different from what you're used to, but I believe I've replicated all of the old functionality.

Behind the scenes, the server hardware itself has been completely replaced with faster, more resilient hardware.  While we haven't had many issues in the past, bigger is better in this case and I hope that you see the difference in page load times.

If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, please reach out to me, MCA, CeeDub, or Woodsy, or reply to this this thread.

Thanks
