Good call. Whenever I purchase something online from a site, I will google "[site name] promotional codes" to try to find an active code. I've been very successful with this.

A colleague at work just clued me in about this program.  Apparently, you get money to pay back your student loans, or to put into your kids' 529s, when you spend money at certain on-line stores.  Including groceries!

I am watching more ON DEMAND (as opposed to going out and spending money at movies, restaurants) yet also spending less on porn.

Save money by using this website to get drunk and fat

"god hates you. you will all go to yuppie hell. in yuppie hell there is no starbucks or hole foods or sushi bar. in yuppie hell you will work 16 hours a day in a bodega. in yuppie hell your car will not start when the sweeper is coming down the street. in yuppie hell your doorman will terrorize you and have sex with your wife or husband...when you are at work....in the bodega. in yuppie hell you will go to the laundromat and lose your last quarter in a broken washing machine. in yuppie hell you will buy all your food and clothing at the 99 cent store. in yuppie hell there are no cell phones, you will use a pay phone. a filthy pay phone".      -   Cat_Man Dude

So I learned today that ShopRite has their weekly sales circular, the insert from the paper? on their website.

An hyperlink on the upper right takes you to a shopping list page, and then back to the circular.  It was quick and easy to build a shopping list, with my coupons in hand, clipped recipes, menu ideas.

Print et voila!  Now I gotta see if we've combined for enough free turkey points!

i just made $70 by selling old CDs and DVDs on this site.  I was able to unload probably 1/2 of my collection -- others were not worth anything (overstocked) or didn't come up.  I was surprised at what got a a lot of money ($10 for the Valley Girl soundtrack) and what got like 10 cents (Moby).  If you sell over 16, you get free shipping.

You just enter UPC codes and then ship them to the location.  You can get paid by check or by PayPal.

Not a ton of money but the CDs and DVDs were just collecting dust, so it's worth it.

I've been cooking dinner every single night. And surprisingly, Mr. JCI hasn't complained of any GI issues yet.

BTW, LNT is closing its doors in December. May want to wait until then for some of the big-ticket items (cough, Roomba for Christmas, cough).

Trying to limit my formerly profligate spending at Zeytuna and various wine stores.

0% balance transfers and trying to pay off credit cards before that time elapses.

Literally saving money by putting away a set amount in my savings account each week (I do not take money out of that "cushion" account).

Oh, and getting SLAMMED with work so making some (unfortunately, mad taxed) overtime.

I think this is a great thread.

We've been doing big shopping trips once every week to two weeks and try to make our own lunch and eat at home as often as possible.

When we do go out we stay out of NYC and go to cheap local bars and affordable restaurants.

Live off of cash and not credit, ie. live within our means, as much as possible.

I just saved a bunch of money by switching to geico.
I also like to "Save by Zero."
I only eat dinner during Lobster Fest and the Never Ending Pasta Bowl.
I leave off the last "s" for savings.
I shop at the discount store for millionaires.
IO Triple Play is the deal, the savings are for real. Gustamos.
I stock up while the values last.
I eat catfood for lunch.

Our cat Gibby is bearing the brunt of the recession so far. We switched his food from Iams to C-Town "Krasdale Brand" cat food.

He looks constipated now.

I've heard tell of some round these parts stooping so low as to

make

their

own

wine.

If you don't save first, you never will.

That said, I try to play like JFK and not carry cash.  Soshin can attest to that.
