I am sure you have exhasuted all your options, but generally when I go away and leave my cat at home, I have a friend come by and give food/water/TLC. Leave some beers in the fridge for your friend so they will hang out for a bit. And then bring the sitter a little gift as a token of your appreciation! Everyone wins in this situation :D

Friends?  Surely, you don't know me.  Seriously though, the only friends I have a strong propensity for torturing cats and other such atrocities.

I found someone.  Thanks.

5. Cat Walk - Beat Happening
Well just because you aren't paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you.

I  haven't used them personally, but I've heard nothing but good things about Fetch! Pet Care.

You might also try posting a request on CATJC.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a sitter to watch my 2 not so vicious cats.  I'm in the Lafayette area and need someone for about 10 days starting the 3rd week of February.  Thank you thank you.

Any recommendations for Cat Boarding in the JC area.  I'll be in L.A. for two weeks next month.

Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

FETCH! Pet Care Expands Into Jersey City, New Jersey

FETCH! Pet CareTM Expands Into Jersey City, New Jersey

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
APRIL 15, 2008
Nation's Leading Name in Professional At-Home Pet Care Now Servicing Jersey City, New Jersey Pet Owners

JERSEY CITY, NJ--(Marketwire - April 15, 2008) - FETCH! Pet Care, the nation's largest pet care brand offering professional pet sitting and dog walking services, today announced it has launched a new location in New Jersey's Clifton to Jersey City region to provide area residents with unsurpassed pet care services. This new franchise marks the 158th FETCH! Pet Care location that, in aggregate, now services more than 10,000 active clients throughout 1,500 cities and towns in 33 states across the U.S.

Rocio Cervera owns and operates FETCH! Pet Care of Clifton to Jersey City. She established the franchise to capitalize on a unique opportunity to combine her love of animals with a proven, turnkey home-based business for one of the lowest capital investments in the franchise industry today. She now provides pet owners throughout Jersey City, New Jersey, including Bayonne and Clifton, with a range of services that meet every need and budget, including boarding and daycare in the sitter's home, overnight sitting or daily visits in the client's home, private and group dog walks, pet taxiing, and miscellaneous home care. A free in-home consultation permits clients, pets and sitters to get pre-acquainted and address each pet's unique needs.

"Selecting a sitter to care for a pet and a home is a critically important decision," notes Cervera. "Now, there's no need to impose on family members or friends, or subject one's pet to kennel boarding. Our highly trained staff of sitters ensures all pets receive the love, attention and skilled treatment expected of a professional caregiver, and that the client's home remains secure."

To assure operational efficiencies, FETCH! Pet Care employs a sophisticated telephone dispatch system and advanced software that tracks assignments and delivers real-time electronic client order confirmations and automated sitter assignment reminders. In addition, each sitter undergoes a thorough criminal background check, references review, and training regimen, and each location is fully licensed, bonded and insured.

Paul Mann, FETCH! Pet Care founder and president, notes, "The demand for professional pet care services is at an all-time high -- especially those that allow pets to maintain their routine while receiving the attention they need. With many pet owners frustrated by the lack of professional and reliable caregivers, or reluctant to kennel their pets due to health and other concerns, our safe, convenient, and nurturing care provides peace of mind."

As part of the grand opening celebration, through May 29, 2008 FETCH! Pet Care of Clifton to Jersey City is offering a 10% discount off each new client's initial service. FETCH! Pet Care of Clifton to Jersey City can be reached by telephone at 201-918-3686 and via email at cjc@fetchpetcare.com or on the web at http://www.fetchpetcare.com.

e-eff, are your "girls" dogs or cats (or something else)? Can you recommend your pet sitter?

Sorry  - they're cats, but she also watches dogs, not so good with fish  :-\

Erin at Dog Gone Bizzy erin@doggonebizzy.com (http://www.doggonebizzy.com/) - my palm crapped out and I don't have her phone # handy

She was very cool when I miscalculated how long i was going to be away and had to add a day at the last minute and send the payment later... of course the check was lost in the mail so it took even longer for her to get paid. She was a great sport throughout. I think the cats like her my shyer cat has warmed up to her.

Darna: it's because my people spend much of their lives barefoot, so when they discover shoes, it's a party!

RB: i rubbed mine last night to be ready for tonight

Burroughs: Thank you for a country in which no one is free to mind his own business

Thoughts on this place? I'm considering boarding my sometimes-dog-aggressive dog there soon.

I've heard nothing but good stuff about this place. I think TheFang used to work there, so maybe she could weigh in. I would love to know how things go if you use Boca, MCA. As you know we have a dog who has some social "issues" and need to find something to do with her while we go away at the end of May.

We just boarded Ralf there for the first time last weekend. The people seemed great, and it's a cool set up. Ralf came home exhausted, and not without a few nicks and scratches, but they said he did very well with the dogs. They seem to be very good about evaluating dogs for temperament, etc.

Thanks.

LOL I don't have kids, I didn't know you tip a baby sitter - aren't they in business for themselves?

What is the percentage?  Or is it throwing them a few dollars?

It's more giving the poor kid an couple extra bucks for dealing with your stink wad all night.  ;)

We do not tip our cat sitter. He's one guy who has his own company, therefore all of the money we pay goes directly to him.

This raises a point. . . Do you tip a person who owns the company? Let's say someone like Ricky from Ricky's Salon? Or better yet, Jonathan Anton? I tip the owners but I always feel like i shouldn't have.

generally, i give a tip to anyone who deserves it (unless they are pouring me coffee and make more money than me ;)  )

TIPS is an acronym-- to insure prompt service.  i tend to think that it is appropriate for anyone in a service industry to recieve or accept a tip if it is appropriate in accordance with the quality of job they are doing and especially if they go out of their way to accommodate me.

We don't "tip" baby sitters--they are in business for themselves. But when it times to calculate, we usually round up pretty generously.  ;D  Same thing, I guess.
Puppies, unicorns, and rainbows. . . .

Hey, did you see the Jersey Journal article about the shootings on Wayne Street?

[12:32 PM] TheFang: i was completely wrong.

I've contacted someone to watch my girls - this is the first time I'm using an actual service as opposed to friends helping out, do people tip?

As a former dog sitter, it'd be nice if you tipped. Consider them more like a baby sitter, which yes, if you have little stinky children you are supposed to tip as well (15 year olds understand the value of a tip too.).
