Don't worry wibbit, bdlaw and shahaggy will soon becoming to your defense.

heh just wont let this go huh? all that for asking a question, in that case you can kiss my dumb, thin-skinned, crybaby ass

Hey, if wibbit wants to out himself as being dumb and a thin-skinned crybaby, then I don't think he's gonna last long around here, whether I call him out on it or not.

Hey, I'm not the one in this thread who assumed that you were an idiot man-child and needed to be shielded from being spoken to like an adult on the internets. But, I'm sorry, it's apparent that I was wrong, you are in fact, quite obviously leotarded.
Darna: could someone please splain to me why a person in a gang is called a gangbanger but a gangbang has nothing to do with gang activity?

shahaggy: can't believe I'm saying this but +1 jehu

[02:58 PM] MCA: it's not stalking, it's caring enough to find out things she won't tell you herself

[01:35 PM] shahaggy: fine but jehu's correct

TheFang: as much as it pains me to say, jehu might be right.

One time, I hired a monkey to take notes for me in class. I would just sit back with my mind completely blank while the monkey scribbled on little pieces of paper. At the end of the week, the teacher said, "Class, I want you to write a paper using your notes." So I wrote a paper that said, "Hello! My name is Bingo! I like to climb on things! Can I have a banana? Eek, eek!"

I will have to agree... It was a pretty dumb question... Simple case, the President of the USA has to submit to taxes every year; and this is broad casted yearly.... With that said, no reason to call it out as a stupid question... TF you are just evil!

yes, one of my friend was based off eastern europe doing contract work a few years back, he told me he didnt have to pay federal tax because of combat zone. I think there is also grades of danger to a combat zone that affects the taxable amount. Anyway it was pretty cool for him, he wants to go back but now only iraq and afghan openings are available.

Your federal tax obligation is waived for that period of time/pay when you are in a combat zone.  It's like a 15% raise, social security, medicaid/unemplyment and state was still withheld.  It was nice but NOT WORTH it sorry to day.

But it Was pretty cool to write "FREE" in the upper right hand corner of your outgoing mail.

Everbody pays taxes - until you're rich enough to figure out how not to.

I know if you serve in the military overseas you don't get taxes taken out... and I know of a few contracting jobs in Iraq that the first 100K was tax free, the other 100K was then taxed at a reduced rate.. But generally, any federal employee pays taxes just the same as you and I.

Does that include Blackwater Xe's contracting jobs in Iraq?

I'd rather pay taxes.

ok thanks,  i was remembering something from oversea contractors who work for the govt with reduced or no tax requirement, it must be something different / hazardous pay.

Imagine what JC would be like if there was an employee discount?

I believe the term is "Professional Courtesy".

Imagine what JC would be like if there was an employee discount?  I mean everyone would be on the payroll as some sort of employee.  If you held multiple jobs you would get multiple discounts.  It would really be rife with corruption.

Didn't you just describe the last 100+ years of JC history?

wow! could you imagine if federal workers didn't have to  pay taxes?

Every time there was a job opening people would line up like it was an American Idle audition. (pun intended)

Easy now,

Gonna go out on a limb and surmise Wibbit my not have enjoyed the same great civic edjumacation in HS that you people did.

The only tax free US Citizens I know are MoH awardees and those guys from the asteroid movie. Truth is, the tax code is designed by and for people with enough money to work around the code.  It's the golden rule of Amerikkka; dem's wit de gold makes de roolz.

Save the snark for the shout box, please.

Of course you do.  What a bizarre question.

Same for State employees (they are taxpayers too, just like you) or government employees at any level.  Except maybe the higher paid ones who might benefit from upper-income bracket tax cuts (but no more so then the CEO of a private sector company.)

Woodsy is 100% correct.

I wouldnt' be surprised if in some other countries the idea existed.  Imagine what JC would be like if there was an employee discount?  I mean everyone would be on the payroll as some sort of employee.  If you held multiple jobs you would get multiple discounts.  It would really be rife with corruption.  Just thinking about it here in JC makes me laugh.  Then imgaine it with 300 million plus people.

Anyway as i only worked in the private sector all my life, do you guys know how the tax situation work for federal government jobs? Do you still have to pay federal + state tax? are they lower because it's federal govt job or same as working in private sector?

I don't have a federal/state job but I have answers to your questions.  Yes, you do have to pay both federal and state taxes at the same rates.  There are no deductions or credits for being a federal/state employee.  You may ultimately pay less but that would be due to making less income or living in a state with a lower tax burden.

Getting sick of working on wallstreet doing meaningless projects and paying for the overpriced cost of living here in jc/nyc metro, and just city life in general.

I was told to look into working for the federal government, and i did find many interesting jobs that i can easily qualify, the pay is about 60% of my current salary but the good part is they are located in the cheaper states like florida, midwest etc.. where for the price of 1br here you can buy a very nice house there in a good area, low property taxes, and get to drive around in nice quiet suburbs.

Anyway as i only worked in the private sector all my life, do you guys know how the tax situation work for federal government jobs? Do you still have to pay federal + state tax? are they lower because it's federal govt job or same as working in private sector?

cant seem to find this info on google. thanks
