That sucks.  I was interested in that.

New Jersey has some strange rules with regards to wines.  When I was trying to sign up for a wine club they told me they couldnt ship to NJ because the club shipped 6 bottles per shipment and according to NJ law, you couldn't receive more than 5 bottles per shipment.

I usually pick up my wine at Sam's Club or at my nearest liquor store.  Although I love to have a glass with dinner, I've never been the type to buy a case or wine.

But... I am considering buying a package through The Accidental Wine Company.
http://www.accidentalwine.com/

Has anyone else tried ordering through them?

ETA:  Apparently they don't ship to New Jersey.  I guess there's always delivery to my office...

A delicious wine from New Jersey not made from blueberries? Impossible! But no!

We had a lovely Syrah from Unionville Vineyards in Ringoes.

Nielsen Estates 2004 Syrah

Tasty, spicy, and nice and dry.

Speaking of Malbec, Alegoria 2004 Malbec via Shop Rite Hobroken was really good- looked for another bottle there today but all they have now is the Cabernet.

Also reheating a relationship with Nero D'Avola thanks to Baglio Del Sole's 2005 which is pretty damn good at 14 bucks (again Shop Rite).

Refrain from busting my chops about Shop Rite next door s'il vous plait; killing two birds with one stone lately, think I need to start Saving My Weekends).

Could someone please school a humble young troglodyte?

I like a glass of red wine on occasion, I am transitioning away from deeper stronger reds like Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz and lately I am favoring lighter reds like Pinot Noir. Can you please inform me of other types that are light like Pinot? Chianti, perhaps?

I am appreciative.

You might want to try Cotes du Rhone, which are often a bit lighter.  An Aussie or American equivalent might be labeled "GSM" (Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre).

I like Tempranillo and Malbec, but I usually think of them as being nearly as full-bodied as Cabernet Sauvignon.

I can recommend a really good, reasonably priced one: Achaval Ferrer Malbec 2006. I might be drinking this tonight, actually.

You know I am naturally going to recommend a wine made of my favorite grape, cabernet franc. You can also try out most kinds of red wine from the Burgundy region of France, which tend to be made from pinot noir and tend to be lighter in general.

Also try Beaujolais or Valpolicella.

I love pinot noir, too.

I concur. I had a glass (or two) of it recently and I have to say I enjoyed it.  Not sure where it would stand in the light category as i myself am somethat of a troglite...

Kinde- You might want to check out tempranillo

Beaujolais is even lighter than Pinot, typically.

White Zinfandel? Come on now skwirrlking. I came in a humble way asking for the more-informed member to bless me with knowledge and you bring this kind of vitriol to the discussion?

Is that the kind of world we want to create?

Looking for a pinot noir that isn't ridiculously overpriced?

Look no further:  Chile: Cono Sur Pinot Noir 2005; $11.99 at Maiden Lane in NYC.

Smooth, well balanced, though not terribly complex.  It's replaced Beaujolais in my house as an easy drinking table red.
