WAIT A MINUTE! This meet and greet with drinks was my idea and I even gave the general address and a general time, but no one bit. WTF!
I don't think nugnfutz is ready to meet the crew.

I just PM'd you the address.  Come by for a meet and greet, some vittles and  drinkies, real convo with real people - we'll be here for another 90 mins easy.

Or just blow away.

Thanks for the invite- really appreciated it. Honestly was walking the dogs over by Enos Jones park. Give me a little more notice next time and I'll stop by.

Ceedub has my number. Anytime mate. Anytime :). Just gimme a lil notice. Note I'm not very good at shooting pool if you guys want to give me some lessons.

I! AM! NOT! BALDING!

the funny thing is....i was over at HP the other nite and took note of all the dog walking "males".
most one of them was a middle management type who sadly appeared to be beaten regularly by his female domestic partner in order to reinforce the powerlessness and emptiness of their his glorified clerical existence. I can see how this context of existential impotency would be fertile ground for the kind of fantasy life that this poor fella inhabits.

(not that there's anything wrong with that)  ;)

fixed it!  >:D

Prolly 24 hours too late on your off-topic intellectual clique post, soshin.

Back to the original post though...UPS and Fedex are normally very good at making sure someone's home on package delivery. USPS sometimes just ring the bell, leave it on the steps and run. If someone steals a package from your doorstep, or mail from your box, you're partly to blame for using cheap shipping, not securing your mailbox and not being home on delivery.

Yay!  Blame the victim!

I suppose the package was askin for it, huh?

This from a guy (?) who posts in the middle of the night, engages in 24 hr delayed "dialogue," and has his/her finger on the pulse of a nabe he lived in years ago - or so s/he would have you people believe.  NuthinPutz, you *clearly* are unaware of the relationship between JCP and VigiRock.  Take your own advice, "mate."

This internet is such serious business.

When you and JCP stop mutually masturbating over your armchair psych theories on people you don't know....I might start taking you seriously.

Jim has been given the opportunity to somehow substantiate his claim, and win the love and admiration of his neighbors.

Yet we hear nothing  :-[

All I can say is that I know from experience that the JCPD does not refer these cases to the feds.

A few years ago I had a stolen mail problem.  I went to the JCPD to get a police report, so they were aware of the issue.  A few weeks later, I figured out who had stolen my mail - basically this girl (late teens) cashed my checks in her joint account with her mother.  When the banks realized the checks were stolen, they pulled the money back out of the account, leaving the mother's account in the negative.  The mother came looking for me because my name and address was on the checks.

I went back to the JCPD with all of the info.  They brought the girl in, talked to her a little, and never even arrested her.  She had stolen $6K.

It kind of amazes me - I work in the NYC criminal justice system, and see people put in jail for not paying their $2.25 subway fare, but the JCPD let this girl walk away with $6K.

My point is, don't believe that the JCPD or the Prosecutor's office necessarily called in the feds.  And, even if they do, the feds have a lot of leeway to turn down a case that they're not interested in.

The Post Office has its own police department. You can bypass the JCPD and call them directly.

Anyone who fucks with the mail deserves to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Absolutely. It is a federal offense with , I believe, a minimum 6 month sentence.
Something doesn't add up , as usual, with Jim's claim: Are we to assume that this headless mail thief was arrested, charged federally , sentenced , served time and released all within the space of 6 months? That is really going out on a limb.

But perhaps he can substantiate his claim by providing us with the public record of the case. That would certainly put my skepticism to rest.

I honestly can't think of another person, whether they're a total stranger or not, that I have seen around this area fitting the description.  The closest I can imagine is some junky that used to be around downtown, but if it's that guy, you'd definitely be able to see the tattoos on his hands and remember.

I have a tendency to take note of tattoos on other folk.

I'd also be more prone to believe this if not for the legend of the headless weiner dog.

Jim, thank you for your vigilance.

I don't see why we should be jumping down JR's throat just because he's trying to look out for our mail, particularly if he's just letting people know to watch out. That's neighborliness.

Regarding Drago's response, either Jim has had the guy in question arrested, or he hasn't — if you're even talking about the same guy. Still, I have to give this point goes to Drago, since JR first says he had the guy arrested for mail theft but then says it was for having stolen stuff from The Home Depot and Target. I'm also kind of curious how you can tell from afar or even right up close if a guy with a bag of stuff from Target and THD — also known as "practically anything" — has stolen it or not.

Now that I think about it, half the crap I have on me is probably from those two stores.

But why the surliness? In my time in Jersey City, I've had mail stolen from every stoop I've lived behind, not to mention had stuff mysteriously disappear from the PO itself. Anyone who fucks with the mail deserves to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
A particularly Jersey malaise—the inextinguishable longing for elsewheres.

Y'know, I gotta say, your description sounds an awful lot like a guy I know around town, whom I know for a fact hasn't been arrested for any sort of crimes like this.  It's above and beyond not cool to be starting shit like this.

you got me! :palm:

But you didn't answer my question... Do you put a cape on your dog as you go fight crime?!

You like anime and you have a dermatologist and you think you can mock Me?! That's funny!!

Do you wear a cape when you are out fighting crime.. Does you dog also have a cape, I can picture it like Underdog...

My guess is that this perp has returned to the neighborhood because he is using his stolen computer to read your's and nugnfutz's posts  here and on another community bulletin board.

That said, he has likely come to the conclusion that the Hamilton Park neighborhood is filled with emasculated males who live out their crime fighting fantasies on the internet and therefore provide no significant impediment to actual criminal activities.

That is, of course, if the perp actually exists.....

Good Job! :2thumbs:

Don't know who nugnfutz is or what stolen computer you're talking about but I can guess that you are a big pussy who hides behind an avatar and mocks things you cannot control. Keep giggling like a schoolgirl at your keyboard. Meanwhile I have actually helped my neighbors and put people in jail. What have you done besides bitch and moan and try to discredit real action? What a douche.
Darna: could someone please splain to me why a person in a gang is called a gangbanger but a gangbang has nothing to do with gang activity?

shahaggy: can't believe I'm saying this but +1 jehu

[02:58 PM] MCA: it's not stalking, it's caring enough to find out things she won't tell you herself

[01:35 PM] shahaggy: fine but jehu's correct

TheFang: as much as it pains me to say, jehu might be right.

One time, I hired a monkey to take notes for me in class. I would just sit back with my mind completely blank while the monkey scribbled on little pieces of paper. At the end of the week, the teacher said, "Class, I want you to write a paper using your notes." So I wrote a paper that said, "Hello! My name is Bingo! I like to climb on things! Can I have a banana? Eek, eek!"

Eek, eek!"

I didn't notice.

I saw a guy near Hamilton Park last night who I had arrested back in January after I saw him stealing mail and packages from people's stoops. Last night he was walking briskly down the street hawking stuff he had stashed in a black plastic bag. He is white, about 40 years old, 6 foot, 170-180 lbs. He has a buzz-cut and wears glasses and has tear-drop tattoos on the corners of both eyes. He was wearing a dark blue t-shirt and dark shorts, sneakers with white socks. When captured in January, a week after I initially spotted him,  he had a bag of items stolen from Target and Home Depot, a stolen credit-card and drug paraphernalia. If you see this dude snooping about Please call the cops at 201-547-5477.
