If Mother nature cooperates, the second stop on Jersey City's Pet Owner's Day Clinics will take place at the Bethune Life Center parking lot, 140 MLK Drive, from 11am to 3pm, Sunday, April 29, 2012.

Pet Owner’s Day has grown dramatically from one event at City Hall in 2010 to a record scheduled eight events at various locations across Jersey City in 2012. In addition to the traditional FREE rabies shots for BOTH dogs and cats, this year will offer FREE wellness shots to any dog or cat whose owner is a resident of Jersey City, courtesy of a ASPCA $10K grant:

■ For Dogs (4 in 1) DA2PP = Distemper, Adenovirus 2 (also called Hepatitis), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus.
■ For Cats (3 in 1) FVRCP = Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (cat distemper).

All dogs must be leashed and all cats in a carrier. Animal Control Personnel will be on hand to help with licensing and People for Animals is also joining the fun with low-cost services for pets!

Download Flyer here.

Reminder, today at 140 MLK 11-3

Calling All Downtown Pet Owners!

JC Animal Control needs your feedback! They are contemplating rescheduling the clinic that was cancelled at City Hall for the end of June. To run these types of Clinics is a bit costly. They need staffing, a veterinarian, and a vet tech. If you need them to do this clinic for your pet, please let them know by emailing them at animalcontrol@jcnj.org

Thank you.

Any chance another clinic will be scheduled for downtown, so that way folks who live down here without cars can take advantage?

The April 22nd Clinic is cancelled.

Hi all,  I promised rain or shine, but a Nor'easter' may be a bit too much. The Nor'easter' will impact NJ today and is due to hit us around noon.  The safety of pets, constituents and staff is most important and since we have 7 more clinics after today we made this decision to cancel the clinic for today, April 22nd  :-(

With eight stops on the tour and a $10,000 grant from The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, members of the Municipal Council, the Department of Health & Human Services/Division of Health are proud to present Jersey City’s Third Annual Pet Owner’s Day Clinics, beginning Sunday, April 22nd, 2012, and running weekends through Saturday, June 16th, 2012.

“I strongly encourage dog and cat owners to take advantage of this event,” said Mayor Healy. “We felt it was important during these difficult economic times to find private funding for animal health and hope that all pet owners keep their animals up to date on all necessary shots.”
