Underground Fire Knocks Out Phones @ Municipal Courts

All Municipal Offices will be closed Monday in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. While trash & recycling schedules remain the same, alternate side of the street parking will be suspended. All Police and Fire will be open and on duty. All City offices will reopen at 9:00 a.m.,Tuesday, May 29th.

The Jersey City Municipal Court is closed today due to the building’s water supply malfunctioning.

All cases scheduled for today, Monday, November 14, 2011 will be rescheduled.  Anyone with a court date today will be notified via mail of their new court date.

Power Successfully Restored at 3:30 p.m. to the Municipal Court After Underground Cable Fire Brings Phone System Down

According to Municipal Court officials, all power has been restored to the Court and the telephones are now working after an underground fire knocked out the Verizon system earlier today. The systems were down for most of the day, but scheduled cases were heard as usual.

Update! Municipal Court To Remain Open; Cases To Go On As Scheduled
Update 7/7/11,12:12 p.m. - Despite the underground cable fire which has knocked out all The Municipal Court's Verizon phone and data lines, the Court will remain open and all cases will be handled as scheduled.  

In the interim, the public should contact the Mayor’s Action Bureau at 201-547-4900, for any Court related issues.

An underground fire has knocked out the Verizon circuits which support phone operations for the Municipal Court. 

According to officials, Verizon is currently working on the problem and hopes to have service restored in four hours. Residents should check back here, visit the Municipal Website, or the Official Government Facebook page for updates.
