Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy announced that City Hall will be designated as a Heart Safe building according to criteria established by the American Heart Association at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. CPR classes will be administered in City Hall Council Chambers and additional automated external defibrillators (AEDs) will be installed throughout City Hall, all as part of National EMS Week, May 20 – 26th, 2012.
Overall, more Municipal buildings will be equipped with AEDs, as the City aims for Jersey City to receive the American Heart Association's "Heart Safe Community" designation. The Medical Center's EMS Department will be offering two free CPR classes to residents of Jersey City on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
