Chillfest screens BEGINNERS
Chillfest presents BEGINNERS starring Ewan McGregor ("Trainspotting," "Moulin Rouge," "Star Wars" prequel trilogy, "I Love You Phillip Morris"), Christopher Plummer ("The Sound of Music," "The Insider," "Up") and Mélanie Laurent ("Inglourious Basterds").

BEGINNERS imaginatively explores the hilarity, confusion, and surprises of love through the evolving consciousness of Oliver (Golden Globe Award nominee Ewan McGregor). Oliver meets the irreverent and unpredictable Anna (Mélanie Laurent) only months after his father Hal Fields (Academy Award nominee Christopher Plummer) has passed away. Oliver's recalling of his father's late-in-life journey to becoming a fulfilled gay man informs his own discovery of romance and true love.

One of the best reviewed films of 2011. Don't miss it!

"...there is sweet wonder and celebration in writer-director Mike Mills' semiautobiographical tale of a straight son coming to terms with his own love's possibilities after his father comes out of the closet."

JIM CARREY and EWAN McGREGOR are madly in love in this deliriously daring and hilariously entertaining story of a con man continually breaking out of jail to be with his man.

JIM CARREY plays Steven Russell, a married police officer who decides to come out after a near-death experience. He moves to Miami, embraces an extravagant lifestyle, and eventually starts pulling cons to pay for it all. But when he meets his soul mate Phillip Morris (EWAN McGREGOR) in jail, Steven’s devotion leads him to repeatedly finds himself in trouble with the law and on the lam – all in the name of love.

Unlike anything else you will see this year, the film is BASED ON A TRUE STORY. From the writers of the deliciously subversive "Bad Santa."

WHAT: I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS directed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra.

WHEN: Sunday, June 12th, 4:15PM (doors open 4:00PM). Arrive early for drinks, food, socializing, and best seats. Full bar and dinner menu available.

WHERE: LITM, 140 Newark Avenue, 1/2 block from Grove Street PATH station in Downtown Jersey City.

* IN ATTENDANCE - Join our special guests for a post-screening discussion: MAKING THE BOYS Director Crayton Robey in conversation with "In The Life" Series Producer Jacqueline Gares. *

Before Prop 8, "Milk" or "Will & Grace," before the AIDS epidemic, gay pride parades or the Stonewall uprising, "The Boys in the Band" changed everything. MAKING THE BOYS explores the drama, struggle and enduring legacy of the first-ever gay play and subsequent Hollywood movie to successfully reach a mainstream audience.

Beloved by some for breaking new ground, and condemned by others for reinforcing gay stereotypes, "The Boys in the Band" sparked heated controversy that still exists four decades later. Featuring anecdotes from the surviving cast and filmmakers, as well as perspectives by legendary figures from stage and screen, MAKING THE BOYS traces the behind-the-scenes drama and lasting legacy of this cultural milestone.

WHAT: MAKING THE BOYS directed by Crayton Robey.

WHEN: Sunday, May 15th, 4:15PM (doors open 4:00PM). Arrive early for drinks, food, socializing, and best seats. Full bar and dinner menu available.

"It’s a surprisingly moving 90-minute snapshot of the end of an era, as Valentino prepares to step down, but mostly it is a love story, an intimate study of the relationship between Valentino and his partner—in business and, never mind the other inamoratos, in life—Giancarlo Giammetti."

Chillfest screens HOWL this Sunday at LITM
« Reply #51 on: 03-11-2011, 12:06pm »
The story of Allen Ginsberg—poet, counter-culture adventurer, and chronicler of the Beat Generation. In his famously confessional, leave-nothing-out style, Ginsberg recounts the road trips, love affairs, and search for personal liberation that led to the most timeless and electrifying work of his career: the poem HOWL.

Starring Mary-Louise Parker ("RED," "Weeds"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), David Strathairn ("The Bourne Ultimatum") a...nd James Franco ("127 Hours") as the young Allen Ginsberg, HOWL is simultaneously a portrait of a renegade artist breaking down barriers to find love and redemption, and an imaginative ride through a prophetic masterpiece that rocked a generation and was heard around the world.

WHAT: Film screening of HOWL, directed by Rob Epstein, Jeffrey Friedman

WHEN: Sunday, March 13th, 4:15PM (doors open 4:00PM).
